Doll Parts
A Thanksgiving centerpiece that's sure to impress the in-laws.
Hi everyone! Like I said last week, my plan is to pop into your inboxes every Friday with a new recipe card. Well, not new exactly. I made the recipe cards a few years ago, but to most of you they are new, because I printed a limited amount and they sold out quickly, so unless you have them physically at home, you’ve never seen any of these recipes before! Look at that, this whole time I’ve been gatekeeping myself. Here’s the cover card for the collection:
With the holidays drawing near, I thought I’d start with a beautiful centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table. It’s also one of my most unhinged recipes. May I present Doll Parts, from the Grunge series:
Here is a video of me making it back in the covid times. A little more about me: in the crazed moments of Covid, I decided to make an Instagram live video series that would eventually morph into the Ruined Table recipe card collection. I’ll link those videos here, when applicable, but view at your own risk. I’ve never re-watched them and I’m certain they are cringe as hell. But hey, I’m leaning into cringiness these days. It’s quite freeing, actually. Try it sometime!
Anyway, I used doll parts here, because of the Grunge theme. (I’m sure you are aware of the song by the same name.) But you could put anything in it you please, edible or otherwise. I’ve tried googly eyes, flowers and plastic toys as well. The weirder the better. There is an ungodly amount of gelatin in it, so it will set hard and last all night out on the table. Do not try to eat this. It will not be good. Let me know in the comments if you make it, what you put inside, and what the reaction was! See you next week.
Stay messy,
McBroom
